Problem

A Shopify store that sells subscriptions reported sales to two Analytics properties. Its Google Ads campaigns counted cart and checkout steps alongside purchases, and the renewal orders the subscription app creates did not reliably reach Analytics.

Build

I moved reporting to one Analytics property, set Ads to bid on the purchase event only, and sent renewal orders through server-side tagging with one de-duplication key per order. Refunds go out as refund events. Every change has a screenshot and its hash in an evidence register.

Result

I checked every order ID from Shopify to the server and to Analytics, day by day. On 7 and 8 September, 64 of 64 and 58 of 58 renewal orders were in Analytics P1. On 9 September all 43 reached the server, 41 of 43 were in Analytics at the cut-off with the last 2 still processing, and 0 were counted twice P2.

Limits

Analytics takes a day or two to process late orders, so a day is only closed after that. One forwarding problem on the tagging platform went to its support team. The client is not named.

My part

Tim N. leads the client relationship. I did the setup, the daily reconciliation and the evidence register P3.
